Georgia says "no" to coal-powered power

Filed under: News, Polit-eco, Alternative EnergyCiting concerns over carbon emissions, a judge in the state of Georgia has halted construction of a new coal-fired power plant. The ruling against power plant builder Dynegy is based on a 2007 Supreme Court judgement which found that carbon dioxide emissions should be treated as pollutants. The judge in the Georgia case ruled that construction should not have begun because the permit issued by the state set no limit on carbon emissions.
